Hollow composite insulators are high-voltage composite components mainly used in switchgear, instrument transformers, and power transmission equipment. They consist of a fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) inner tube, silicone rubber housing, and metal end fittings.
Compared with traditional porcelain insulators, they feature light weight, high mechanical strength, excellent hydrophobicity, anti-pollution flashover performance, and maintenance-free operation. They are widely applied in GIS, AIS, and high-voltage bushings to provide reliable insulation and mechanical support under power-frequency, impulse voltage, and short-circuit conditions.
